A victim showing “obvious signs of traumatic injuries” died in an Imperial Beach alley early Sunday.

San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies and San Diego police responded to calls of shots fired near the 800 block of Georgia Street shortly after 3 a.m., according to OnScene.TV.

When they arrived, they heard screaming from a woman near the back of the apartment complex in an alley. The authorities approached and found a male lying facedown with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

Medical personnel arrived and attempted life-saving measures, but ultimately, they pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Investigators found four shell casings near where the man died. A Sheriff’s homicide unit will handle the probe.

A Sheriff’s lieutenant said the victim was 45, but did not release his name.

A witness spotted two males running southbound through the alley after the shots rang out, according to OnScene.
