At least one motorist died Saturday evening in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 8 in La Mesa.
The crash happened in the westbound lanes at Severin Drive around 7 p.m., according to OnScene.TV.
The motorist, a male, died at the scene. Witnesses said he had been speeding and driving recklessly before his car went up an embankment on the right shoulder, then rolled.
The person’s identity will be withheld pending notification of next of kin, the California HIghway Patrol said.
There was no immediate word on any other injuries in the crash, which blocked several lanes. San Miguel Fire & Rescue also responded to the scene.
