A young City Heights couple remained behind bars Friday on suspicion of killing their infant daughter.

Patrol officers responding to a medical emergency found the 3-month-old baby in grave condition at a residence in the 4400 block of Maple Street in Colina Del Sol late Wednesday, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Paramedics took the child to a hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead, SDPD Lt. Andra Brown said.

Detectives questioned the infant’s parents, Brandon Ivan Copeland, 21, and Elizabeth Reneedawn Ucman, 22, and then arrested them on suspicion of murder.

Brown would not release the cause of death or disclose what circumstances led up to it.

Copeland and Ucman, in county jail without bail, await their Monday arraignment.
