A man was behind bars Monday on suspicion of murder in connection with a shooting near the Jamacha/Lomita neighborhood.

Officers found Damien Sims, 36, lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his upper body after multiple reports of a shooting around 1:30 p.m. Friday at 8200 Sabre St., according to the San Diego Police Department.

According to police, Sims was involved in an altercation with multiple male suspects, one of whom pulled out a handgun and shot the victim. Two suspects fled the scene in a white SUV that was later recovered by police.

Detectives arrested Christian Tausaga, 31, on suspicion of murder and conspiracy, while his brother Jacob Tausaga, 18, was arrested on suspicion of vandalism and conspiracy.

Christian Tausaga was being held without bail in the San Diego County Jail.
