Authorities on Sunday identified the UC San Diego student who died following a fall from a 8th floor dormitory window as Aaron Fan, 18.
Fan died at 3:31 a.m. Saturday at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla after being injured at Tiaga Hall nearly four hours earlier, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office.
The John Muir College student suffered the injury in room H74 of the hall at 9485 Scholars Drive South, the medical examiner’s office said.
Fan “had been at a party in a room on the 8th floor of the dormitory campus,” a release stated. “A campus officer came by the room to report a noise complaint and the decedent entered the bathroom.”
Officials said “a short while later, witnesses saw the decedent fall out of the bathroom window down to the ground below and immediately called 911.”
Paramedics responded and transported Fan to Scripps Memorial where he was diagnosed with “multiple injuries,” according to the release.
The university announced the young man’s death, but withheld his identity and the circumstances, on Saturday.
Fan’s death occurred during the final days of the university’s homecoming week.
