A man suffered serious injuries Sunday in Cortez Hill when a vehicle ran him over while he slept on the sidewalk, police said.

The incident occurred at 8:50 a.m. in the 500 block of Beech Street, said Officer Sarah Foster of the San Diego Police Department.

The man, 58, lay asleep near a driveway when a woman driving a 2019 Ford Edge in the designated bike lane turned into an Ace parking lot, the officer said.

The woman, 65, drove over the sleeping man.

Foster described the man’s injuries as serious, but not life threatening.
