Two additional suspects sat behind bars Thursday in connection with a gang-related summer shooting that left a man dead in Linda Vista.

Jacqueline America Calderon, 20, and Erick Noriega, 21, were taken into custody during a traffic stop in Escondido on Wednesday evening on suspicion of taking part in the slaying of Josue Amador, according to the San Diego Police Department.

On Tuesday, authorities arrested two others, Axel Joshua Medina, 21, and Cynthia Marie Webb, 20, suspected in Amador’s June 29 death.

About 9:30 p.m. that day, patrol officers investigating reports of gunfire found the victim outside a rental unit at an apartment complex in the 6900 block of Eastman Street. He had at least one gunshot to his upper body, SDPD Lt. Andra Brown said.

Amador, 25, of San Diego, died at the scene.

Investigators determined that two men approached Amador and three companions and “issued a gang challenge.” Afterwards, one of the pair pulled a handgun and opened fire, Brown said.

Following the shooting, the gunman and other suspects fled in opposite directions in an SUV and a four-door sedan.

Police have not disclosed the identity of the person believed to be the shooter, but booked all four suspects on suspicion of murder.
