A man wanted on a shooting-related arrest warrant holed up with another crime suspect in a Logan Heights home Friday when a SWAT arrived to take him into custody, prompting a 3 1/2-hour standoff that ended in the pair’s arrests.

The special weapons and tactics personnel went to the residence in the 2100 block of Ocean View Boulevard to serve the court order about 9 a.m., according to the San Diego Police Department.

When the suspect refused to surrender, police shut down a stretch of the street along with several nearby intersections and called in crisis negotiators, SDPD Officer Tony Martinez said.

During the operation, police determined that a second man — also wanted in connection with a shooting — was hiding out in the home along with the subject of the warrant.

The standoff continued until shortly after 12:30 p.m., when the two wanted men surrendered peaceably, Martinez said. Officers then began reopening the neighborhood to the public.

The suspects — both facing felony arrest warrants — were identified as Jonathan Gutierrez and Johnny Mena, OnScene.TV reported.
