A pedestrian was fatally struck by a train at the Chesterfield Drive crossing in Encinitas Monday afternoon, deputies said.
The collision happened about 3 p.m. and North County Transit District train service was suspended, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Pat McEvoy said.
Chesterfield Drive was also closed following the incident.
The Sheriff’s Rail Enforcement Unit responded to investigate the incident, authorities said.
