A man was killed in a shooting near a Ralphs supermarket in downtown San Diego Friday evening.

Officers responded about 9:30 p.m. to a shooting near First Avenue and G Street, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The man was shot by a security guard, NBC7 reported. Details of what led up to the shooting were not immediately available.

The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The name of the victim was not disclosed.
