Border Patrol agents arrested a Mexican woman near Oceanside Tuesday who had who her 7-year-old child and 48 pounds of methamphetamine in the car.

Agents on patrol near the Oceanside Harbor exit on Interstate 5 stopped a black Kia Forte heading north around 4 p.m. after they became suspicious of the driver’s behavior.

Inside the car’s trunk, agents discovered a duffle bag with 20 bundles of meth having an estimated street value of $93,000.

The driver, a 26-year-old Mexican with a valid B1/B2 tourist visa, was placed under arrest and faces state charges of felony drug trafficking. Her child was placed with local child protective services.

Since Oct. 1,Border Patrol agents in the San Diego sector have seized more than 750 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $1.4 million.
