Authorities sought help Tuesday in finding a parolee suspected of stabbing a man in the neck in the Midway area on Thanksgiving Day.

Forrest Robert Brantley, 38, allegedly attacked Robert Erbe about 8 a.m. Thursday. The attack occurred during an argument outside a business on Sports Arena Boulevard, according to San Diego police.

Medics took Erbe, 55, to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead, Sgt. Michelle Velovich said.

The reason for the confrontation was unclear, and the type of weapon used by the assailant remains unknown.

Investigators believe Brantley is in the San Diego area or Ventura County, where he is from, Velovich said.

Anyone spotting the suspect should avoid approaching him. They are urged to call the SDPD Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
