A police chase of a suspected stolen vehicle in San Diego Tuesday evening ended in a crash that injured a father, mother and their three children in a minivan and two people in the suspect vehicle.
Officers tried to pull over a speeding vehicle in the area of Euclid Avenue and Market Street about 9:45 p.m., but the driver took off, reaching speeds of at least 60 mph before the suspect vehicle crashed head-on into a minivan near the intersection of Market and Pitta streets, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The crash occurred near the Emerald Hills neighborhood less than a mile from where the chase began.
Two adults and three minors in the minivan suffered minor injuries. Two of the three people in the suspect vehicle also suffered minor injuries, police said.
Alcohol or drugs may have been a factor in the crash, police said.
The name of the suspect was not disclosed.
