A man was found severely injured Tuesday morning outside a 7-Eleven in the Rolando neighborhood and police were searching for his attacker.
Dispatchers received a call around 4:20 a.m. from a person who reported that a man was down in the parking lot of the convenience store near the intersection of El Cajon and Rolando boulevards, according to San Diego police.
Paramedics performed CPR on the man, who was bleeding from his head, and took him to a hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition, Officer Scott Lockwood said.
Investigators believe the victim, whose age was not immediately available, was attacked by a man in the parking lot and hit with a metal object, SDPD public-affairs Officer Billy Hernandez said.
The suspect fled in an unknown direction following the attack. He was described as 5-foot-7 with a thin build, wearing a blue T-shirt and a red bandana.
Detectives with the San Diego Police Department’s mid-city division were investigating the attack.
