A man jumped to his death from the Coronado Bridge Saturday, the California Highway Patrol said.
The suicide happened at 12:23 p.m. when the man stopped his vehicle mid-span on the bridge, got out, walked around his vehicle and then jumped into the San Diego Bay, according to a CHP incident report.
Fire department personnel located his body at 12:54 p.m.
The suicide occurred despite the recent installation of spike strips to try to deter jumpers. Caltrans is studying whether to install more extensive barriers along the bridge.
