A man and a woman were jailed Wednesday on suspicion of firing shots from a vehicle at undercover police detectives working in Barrio Logan, then fleeing before they were arrested on state Route 905 in Otay Mesa.
The detectives were working near the 3500 block of Main Street, near Thor Street, around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday when gunshots rang out, according to San Diego Police.
No officers were hit and they didn’t return fire, Officer John Buttle said.
The shooting prompted a pursuit that ended on westbound state Route 905 near Caliente Boulevard in Otay Mesa, Buttle said.
A man and a woman in the Chrysler sedan were taken into custody, the officer said, adding that their names and ages were not immediately available.
Police said there may have been a third person in the suspect’s vehicle, but that person got away.
Traffic was stopped in both directions of state Route 905 west of Britannia Boulevard about 10 p.m. before lanes were reopened about 10:30 p.m., according to Caltrans San Diego.
