Police arrested a third suspect Tuesday in connection with the slaying of a man found dead last winter in a drainage ditch near Fox Canyon.

Jesus Faraj, 41, already in custody at Centinela State Prison in Imperial County, faces murder charges. He’s suspected in the death of Jimmy Khieu, 32, according to San Diego police.

Khieu, 32, suffering from traumatic injuries to his upper body, was found dead in a culvert in the 5100 block of Auburn Drive on Feb. 3.

Officials ruled his death a homicide, Lt. Matt Dobbs said.

Last Wednesday, detectives arrested Steven Chavez, 32, for allegedly taking part in the killing. On Friday, officials booked Peter Burgos, 45, already jailed in San Diego County, for his alleged role in the homicide, Dobbs said.

In a National City case, a Peter Burgos awaits trial on attempted murder charges. He stands accused of shooting a barbershop owner in March.

Police withheld Khieu’s cause of death. They have not revealed a motive in the case.
