The CHP shut down the on and off-ramps at Del Lago Boulevard as well as the carpool lane.
Escondido police Sgt. Sean Davidson told the San Diego Union-Tribune that a vehicle heading south on the I-15 in the carpool lane exited the freeway and continued south on Del Lago Boulevard, where it collided with a westbound car on Del Lago Boulevard.
Those closures will remain in effect until at least 10 p.m., the CHP reported.
