Firefighters extinguished a small brush fire this morning near state Route 163 and Interstate 5 in downtown San Diego, authorities said.
The blaze was reported around 8:35 a.m. in an area near northbound state Route 163, north of Interstate 5, San Diego Fire-Rescue spokeswoman Monica Munoz said.
The fire burned a 20 feet by 20 feet area of brush and trash before the flames were knocked down by 8:53 a.m., Munoz said.
No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
