A gunman robbed a technology store in La Mesa Tuesday, making off with cash and electronics including iPads and cell phones.

An employee at PowerTech Wireless, 7014 University Ave., reported the robbery around 2:25 p.m., La Mesa police Lt. Brian Stoney said.

The suspect entered the store, pointed a gun at the employee and demanded cash, Stoney said. The culprit stole cash, several cell phones and iPads and fled on foot northbound on 70th Street.

A San Diego Police Department helicopter crew responded to help search for the suspect, and officers set up a perimeter in the area, but they were unable to find the robber.

The suspect was described as a man in his 20s, 5-feet-8-inches tall, 150 pounds and wearing a gray hoodie, black jeans and black shoes. He was carrying a cardboard box and armed with a gun, police said.

No injuries were reported. Stoney could not confirm if there were customers in the store at the time of the robbery.

Anyone with information was asked to call the La Mesa Police Department at 619-667-1400.
