Firefighters quickly extinguished a brush fire that shut down traffic lanes Tuesday morning in the Bay Ho neighborhood.

The blaze was reported around 6 a.m. in an area near Moraga and Balboa avenues, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Firefighters responded to the area and knocked down the flames within 25 minutes, a fire dispatcher said. No structures were threatened.

Police shut down westbound Balboa Avenue at Moraga Avenue and the northbound Morena Boulevard onramp to westbound Garnet Avenue due to the brush fire.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
