Flames engulfed two trailers at an El Cajon mobile home park Friday, displacing five residents.

The blaze in the 200 block of El Cajon Boulevard erupted for unknown reasons about 3:45 p.m.

It took firefighters about 10 minutes to extinguish the flames, said Sonny Saghera, Heartland Fire and Rescue‘s public information officer.

A police officer suffered a minor cut to his hand. He broke out a window to determine if anyone was inside one of the structures, Saghera said. Paramedics treated him at the scene.

The American Red Cross was called in to help the residents, four adults and a child, arrange for housing.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation in the late afternoon. It caused an estimated $35,000 worth of damage.
