Homicide detectives on Sunday were investigating a suspicious death in the riverbed near SDCCU Stadium in Mission Valley.

A caller alerted San Diego Police around 5:30 p.m. Saturday to a body near the San Diego River, and arriving officers found a male victim with signs of “possible trauma to the upper body.”

Homicide detectives were called to the scene and will be working with the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the manner and cause of death.

The victim has been identified, but his name is being withheld pending family notification.
