Police arrested a homeless man accused of breaking into and entering a Hillcrest apartment, where he startled a teen-aged resident.
Authorities said the girl had arrived home at about 1:15 p.m. Sunday and entered her bedroom when she heard a noise. Thinking it was her mother, she approached and saw the intruder.
Her mother, who had been parking the family car, then entered the apartment, in the 4000 block of Brant Street.
The woman, seeing the man, immediately urged him to leave. He refused and she called the police.
When officers arrived, the suspect fled to an alley behind the apartments. They arrested him at gunpoint.
The unnamed man is being held on trespassing and burglary charges. He did not harm the woman or her daughter.
