The broken pipe was reported in the area of Myrtle and Arnold avenues near Morley Field at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

Water flowed toward homes in the 3400 block of Arizona Street, according to police.

San Diego Public Utilities Department crews shut down the water main at 9:30 a.m.

Service to customers was expected to be restored by 4 p.m. OnSceneTV reported that the water filled back yards, basements and garages.

Water main breaks have flooded North Park streets in each of the past two years.
