A 17-year-old boy sustained a brain bleed and multiple facial lacerations when he was struck by a car while riding an old-fashioned, non-motorized scooter Friday evening in Linda Vista.
The boy was hospitalized, but his injuries are not life threatening, authorities said.
The boy jumped over a raised wall into a westbound lane on Genesee Avenue near Richland Street where he was struck by a Ford Focus at about 7 p.m., San Diego Police Officer Robert Heims said.
The 38-year-old driver was not injured. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected as a cause of the accident, Heims said.
The accident remains under investigation.
