A small brush fire that started Saturday in the Rancho Penasquitos community and consumed one acre has been extinguished, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

The fire was put out at around 3 p.m., a department official said.

The blaze was first reported at 2:17 p.m. in the 12000 block of Ragweed Street, just above Penasquitos Creek.

Investigators are on scene trying to determine what caused the fire, the official said.

There were no injuries.
