Two fires caused significant damage to residential structures in La Jolla and Spring Valley Friday.
In East County, a fire of unknown origin damaged an independent-living home, leaving one resident injured and several displaced.
The blaze in the 9000 block of Harness Street in Spring Valley erupted about 1:45 p.m., according to San Miguel Fire & Rescue.
Firefighters were able to contain the flames to a single bedroom and had them under control within about 20 minutes, Deputy Chief James Marugg said.
Medics took a person who lives in the group home to a hospital for treatment. It’s unclear how severe the injuries were.
The American Red Cross was called in to help the rest of the residents arrange for emergency lodging.
Another fire caused an estimated $50,000 worth of damage Friday to a home under construction near Mount Soledad.
The blaze in the 2700 block of Palomino Circle in La Jolla erupted at about 9:45 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
It took firefighters roughly 15 minutes to extinguish the morning blaze, department spokesman Alec Phillipp said.
Investigators with the San Diego Metro Arson Strike Team determined that the fire had been deliberately set, according to Phillipp.
No arrests in the case had been announced as of late afternoon.
