An unidentified dead man was found floating in a pond behind an Oceanside supermarket Thursday morning.
A pilot dropping pesticide over a marshy area to the rear of the Vons store at Town Center Drive and state Route 76 spotted the body shortly before 11 a.m., police spokesman Tom Bussey said.
Lifeguards retrieved the corpse, which was clothed and bore no obvious signs of suspicious injuries.
“Based on the appearance of the body, it may have been in the water for at least a couple of weeks,” Bussey said.
The county Medical Examiner’s Office was called in to take custody of the remains.
