A 58-year-old man was killed when his SUV veered off a highway transition ramp and crashed on an embankment in the Fairmount Park area, authorities said Monday.
The driver lost control of the 2012 Ford Explorer for unknown reasons while taking the transition ramp from southbound Interstate 805 to eastbound State Route 94 about 7:55 p.m. Sunday, California Highway Patrol Officer Jake Sanchez said.
The SUV left the roadway, struck several trees and came to rest on an embankment just north of SR-94, the officer said.
The man, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene.
