A 52-year-old Irvine man and a 32-year-old El Cajon woman suffered serious injuries when their cars collided head on north of Lakeside near Barona Casino, causing the woman’s car to roll over and come to a rest on its roof, authorities said Wednesday.
It happened around 9:35 p.m. Tuesday on Wildcat Canyon Road near Barona Road, just south of the casino, California Highway Patrol Officer Jeff Christy said.
The 32-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a 1997 Ford Thunderbird traveling northbound on Wildcat Canyon Road while the 52-year-old man was driving a 2010 Lexus sedan southbound on Wildcat Canyon Road, Christy said.
The Ford driver swerved to the left for unknown reasons and collided head on with the Lexus in the southbound lane, causing the Ford to roll over and come to a rest on its roof in the northbound lane, the officer said.
Both drivers were taken to local hospitals for treatment of major injuries, Christy said.
Intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in the crash, he said.
CHP officers were investigating the crash.
