Multiple people were injured in a crash at a busy Mira Mesa intersection Sunday, a fire official said.

A car overturned around noon near the intersection of Mira Mesa Boulevard and Camino Ruiz, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Battalion Chief David Pilkerton said.

The occupants of that car — the only vehicle involved in the crash — were trapped inside until firefighters and paramedics could arrive.

Pilkerton said he couldn’t confirm how many people were in the vehicle, but three ambulances took the occupants to a nearby hospital. He couldn’t say how badly any of them were hurt.
