Residents of Santee were being warned Saturday night to be on the lookout for a female inmate who escaped from a detention center east of Santee Trolley Square.
A large perimeter has been set up by the department around the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility, 451 Riverview Parkway, with nearby roads closed, said the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Destiny Guns, 22, is 5 feet 2 and 100 pounds with green eyes and brown hair. She has a tattoo of an elephant skull on her right arm and of a grasshopper on her chest — as pictured in her Facebook account.
At the time of her escape a little after 6 p.m., Guns was wearing a white top and blue pants. Guns is a low level prisoner with a history of nonviolence.
Her last known location was in a field on the southwest side of the facility.
All other inmates at Las Colinas have been accounted for, authorities said. Guns was arrested April 1 on charges of possessing a stolen car.
Anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s Department at (858) 565-5200. They can remain anonymous and be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
