A man was arrested Wednesday morning on suspicion of firing multiple shots at unoccupied vehicles at a San Ysidro apartment complex, police said.

Dispatchers received multiple calls shortly before 7:20 a.m. from people reporting that a man was shooting at unoccupied autos at an apartment complex in the 800 block of West San Ysidro Boulevard, San Diego police public- affairs Officer Billy Hernandez said.

Officers found several shell casings in the parking area of the apartment and located bullet holes in a vehicle nearby, he said.

No injuries were reported.

As officers were searching the area for the suspect, a man came out of an apartment in the complex and was taken into custody, Hernandez said. His name and age were not immediately available.

Officers recovered a firearm at the scene, the officer said.

Detectives from the San Diego Police Department’s southern division were investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
