Police arrested 11 drivers at a drunken driving checkpoint in Downtown San Diego’s East Village this weekend.
The checkpoint was conducted between 11 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday on G Street at 14th Street by officers from the San Diego and Chula Vista police departments, said San Diego police Officer Mark McCullough.
A total of 1,800 vehicles traveled through the checkpoint. Just over 700 of those vehicles were screened.
Police pulled 14 drivers aside for evaluation, and 11 drivers were ultimately arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, McCullough said. An additional driver was given a citation for driving a car without a valid license.
