A pedestrian was struck and seriously injured Thursday morning by a vehicle at a Rancho Penasquitos intersection, authorities said.
It happened shortly before 5:45 a.m. at the intersection of Rancho Penasquitos Boulevard and Paseo Montril, said San Diego police Lt. Shawn Takeuchi.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and took the man — believed to be in his 60s — to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla for treatment of major injuries, said San Diego Fire-Rescue spokeswoman Monica Munoz.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the victim remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, Takeuchi said.
Detectives with the SDPD traffic division were investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.
