A report that a student at Mission Bay High School might be carrying a gun in class Friday prompted an hourlong lockdown of the Pacific Beach campus and a search that turned up no weapon.

Administrators at the Grand Avenue secondary school got word of the possible security problem in one of its classrooms about 9:45 a.m., according to San Diego Unified School District officials. Teachers secured all students in their classes while campus police investigated.

After searching the school and questioning students, officers gave an all-clear about 10:45 a.m., SDUSD spokeswoman Maureen Magee said.

No firearm or other weapon was found on the campus, Magee said.

It was unclear who made the telephone call reporting the possible presence of a gun at the school, the spokeswoman said.
