
A California Highway Patrol cruiser. Courtesy CHPA Cal Fire/Deer Springs Fire Protection District Engine responding to an emergency call crashed into a ditch and ended up on its side off a roadway near Bonsall Thursday morning, but all three firefighters inside were unharmed, authorities said.
The crash happened shortly before 6:15 a.m. on Old Highway 395 between Gopher Canyon and Lilac roads, California Highway Patrol Officer Jim Bettencourt said.
The engine veered off the roadway, crashed into a ditch and ended up on its side, Bettencourt said.
All three firefighters inside the engine were taken to a hospital for evaluation, Cal Fire Capt. Issac Sanchez said, adding that they were released around 9:50 a.m.
Motorists were urged to avoid Old Highway 395 between Circle R Drive and Camino Del Rey.
