A California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer suffered minor injuries Wednesday when he was struck by a car on Interstate 15 in Escondido.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. on the southbound I-15 onramp from Via Rancho Parkway, CHP Officer Mark Latulippe said.
The motorcycle officer was heading south on I-15 when he saw a disabled vehicle on the right shoulder, near the end of the onramp, Latulippe said.
He activated his emergency lights and drove toward the stopped vehicle, but as the officer crossed the onramp to reach the shoulder he was struck by a man driving a 2005 Cadillac STS sedan, Latulippe said.
The officer was treated at the scene for minor injuries, then taken to Pomerado Hospital for further evaluation, he said.
The Poway man driving the Cadillac was not injured in the collision, Latulippe said.
CHP officers were investigating the crash.
