A shooting Monday in an East Village apartment left a 29-year-old man gravely wounded.

Officers responding to reports of gunfire at a residential complex in the 900 block of Market Street found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body shortly before 6 a.m., according to San Diego police.

Medics took the man to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were considered life threatening, Lt. Anthony Dupree said. The victim’s name was not released.
