Police Thursday were searching for a man who robbed a 7- Eleven convenience store in the Lake Murray area while wearing a scarf around his face.
It happened around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday at the 7-Eleven at 8508 San Carlos Drive, San Diego Police Officer John Buttle said.
The thief walked into the convenience store and banged on the counter while the employee was in the back of the store, Buttle said.
The man walked around the counter and demanded money from the employee, but the employee refused, Buttle said. The thief then grabbed a jar from behind the counter and threw it at the glass counter.
The employee gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money from the register and the suspect fled in an unknown direction, Buttle said.
The suspect was described as black, in his 20s and around 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, black pants and a scarf around his face.
