Firefighters were battling an eight-acre brush fire in a Lakeside river bottom Sunday afternoon.
It started as a half-acre blaze in the dry bed of the San Diego River, near the , before 3 p.m., according to information from Cal Fire San Diego.
The fire had a moderate rate of spread at the time. At press time, Cal Fire tweeted that the brusher was holding at eight acres and crews had halted the fire’s forward progress.
No structures were considered threatened by the blaze.
