Deputies shot a man Monday afternoon during a confrontation at an East County apartment complex, leaving him with wounds of undisclosed severity.

The shooting in the 2600 block of Alpine Boulevard took place about 3 p.m., according to officials with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Details on the circumstances that led to the gunfire and the wounded man’s condition remained unavailable in the early evening.

No deputies were injured during the violent encounter, sheriff’s officials told news crews.
