A man who violated a temporary restraining order barricaded himself in a Clairemont apartment for nearly two hours, an officer said Sunday.
Around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, police headed to an apartment complex on Diane Avenue, just south
of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, for a report of domestic violence, San Diego Police Officer Dino Delimitros confirmed.
A woman involved in the incident was able to get out, but the man locked himself in a bedroom with a pepperball gun that an officer had accidentally dropped in the apartment, according to The San Diego Union- Tribune.
The man told officers he had a firearm and was threatening to hurt himself.
He refused to leave the apartment, and a SWAT team was called in, the Union-Tribune reported.
Eventually, the man was persuaded to give up the pepperball gun, which he tossed out the front door, according to the newspaper. Police also found a missing flashlight on the front-door mat.
Officers left the apartment and did not take the man into custody, Delimitros said.
There was still a misdemeanor warrant for the man’s arrest, the officer said.
