Firefighters Sunday put out a small brush fire in the dry bed of the San Luis Rey River in Oceanside.
Around 2:20 p.m. firefighters headed to a quarter-acre vegetation fire in a section of riverbed near Parkside Drive and Fireside Street, according to information from the Oceanside Fire Department.
Crews from the Oceanside, Vista and Camp Pendleton fire departments performed an “aggressive” initial attack on the fire and were able to hold stop its growth at around a half-acre in size, the Oceanside Fire officials said.
It was declared under control about a half-hour after firefighters got to the scene, and the scene was cleared by abouot 4:15 p.m.
No one was injured and no damage was reported.
