A 54-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car while crossing a street in Encinitas, police reported Thursday.
Deputies responded about 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday to a call of a vehicle versus pedestrian near the intersection of Mountain Vista Drive and El Camino Real. Despite life-saving measures, the woman died at the scene, according to Deputy Jason Ferguson of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
An investigation determined she was crossing Mountain Vista Drive when she was struck by a Toyota Corolla going eastbound on Mountain Vista Drive, Ferguson said.
Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the crash, Ferguson said.
The driver of the Toyota stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. No arrest was reported.
