A 61-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly threatening violence against a Catholic Church in Chula Vista, authorities reported.
Thomas Escajeda of Chula Vista was taken into custody late Wednesday morning in connection with the alleged menacing statements targeting St. Rose of Lima Parish, according to police.
On Tuesday, Escajeda allegedly made a telephone call during which he threatened to do harm to congregants at the H Street house of worship at a Mass on Thursday morning, Chula Vista police Lt. Kenny Heinz said. The lieutenant declined to release details on the nature of the supposed planned attack.
Heinz also disclosed no suspected motive for the alleged threat.
