
A pedestrian suffered major injuries Monday when she was struck by a car while crossing a street in the El Cerrito area, police said.
It happened at about 6:15 a.m. in the 5700 block of El Cajon Boulevard, San Diego Police Officer Robert Heims said.
A 67-year-old woman was crossing El Cajon Boulevard southbound outside of a crosswalk when she was struck by a 2006 Honda Civic driven by a 47- year-old man, Heims said.
The woman was transported to a hospital with major injuries, including several facial fractures, Heims said, adding that the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
The Honda driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, Heims said.
Investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s traffic division were investigating the collision.
