An Alta Vista church was vandalized obscene graffiti overnight Sunday, police said.

The graffiti was discovered Monday morning at the Church of Christ on the 6000 block of Division Street when a neighbor driving his children to school spotted it.

Graffiti was spraypainted across the back of the building as well as on several steps the stairwells. The graffiti are anti-Christian, anti-Trump, anti-police and other gang signs.

Some of the sign painted on the church indicated the vandalism was caused by a gang in National City, police said.

One church member said he’s never seen graffiti this bad at the church before.

“Completely shocked,” Harold said. “We’re completely ashamed that it’s here and we’ll try our best to clean it up and hope it never happened again.

San Diego Police Department is investigating.
