A mother driving with her two children Tuesday morning hit a parked SUV and flipped her vehicle in Birdland, police said.

The crash happened just before 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Redbird Drive and Talon Way, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The white sedan hit the back of a green SUV, went airborne and flipped on its roof, according to neighbors. All three people in the car were able to get out safely with the help of neighbors.

The children were checked out by paramedics and released.

Police said distracted driving and speeding were the probable cause of the crash.

San Diego Police Traffic Division is investigating.
